About Scientific Symposiums International

Scientific Symposiums International was founded in 1994 on the premise that a continuing medical education program need not be dry or held in a dreary setting to qualify as a worthwhile learning experience.

The first Scientific Symposium’s course was held in 1995 at the Mauna Kea Resort's Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii. Since then, more than 1,200 physicians from around the world, have attended our annual courses while enjoying the tropical warm of the Islands or the majestic scenery of Alaska. Over 35 percent of our attendees return annually to re-experience resort amenities, camaraderie and educational excellence of these continuing medical education programs.

Scientific Symposium’s approach is simple. Our courses are designed to provide stimulating, up-to-date reviews on topics of critical interest to practicing pathologists. Lectures are presented in an informal, relaxed setting by excellent speakers who are internationally recognized as experts in their fields. And, when the work is done, there is time to enjoy the ultimate in premiere resorts and their environs.

Scientific Symposiums began in 1995 with an annual course in general surgical pathology. In 2001 a second course in dermatopathology was introduced, designed for dermatologists who read their own biopsies, dermatopathologists, general surgical pathologists who see a large volume of skin pathology. In 2004, a new series in laboratory medicine/clinical pathology was added to reflect the growing need for comprehensive courses in this ever-changing specialty. Pathologists practicing any of the areas of laboratory medicine will find this course indispensable.
