Dr. Ljung received her BS and MD degrees from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. She took her specialty training in Oncology and Cytology at the Karolinska Institute and in Surgical Pathology at the UCLA School of Medicine. She is Professor of Clinical Pathology at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, and is the Director of the Cytopathology Fellowship program. Dr. Ljung serves on the Editorial Boards of Acta Cytologica, and Cancer Cytopathology.
