David E. Elder [M.D.]

Dr. Elder received his BMedSc and MBChB degrees at the University of Otago School of Medicine, Dunedin, New Zealand. He took his residency training in pathology at Dunedin Public Hospital, Dunedin, New Zealand. His Specialty Certification includes: Diplomate in Clinical Pathology, University of Otago School of Medicine, Dunedin, New Zealand and Fellow, Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (now Australasia). Dr. Elder is a Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Dermatology at the, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is the Director of the Division of Anatomic Pathology, and Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine. He is a member of numerous national and international societies of dermatology and pathology, and has served on the editorial boards of ten dermatopathology, dermatology and pathology journals. He is and internationally recognized expert in dermatopathology, with special interest in pathology of melanoma and pigmented lesions. His research interest include: diagnosis, prognosis, genetics and therapy of melanoma.
