Dr. Kimberle Chapin received her B.S. degree from Boston College, her M.A. degree in Medical Genetics and Microbiology, and her M.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts. She took her residency training and a fellowship in Clinical Pathology in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical School of Brown University and Director of Microbiology, Lifespan Medical Center Department of Pathology.
She serves on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee, is the Chair of the American Board of Medical Microbiology American Academy for Microbiology Standards and Examination Committee, and is the Vice-Chair of the American Board of Microbiology. Dr. Chapin is Contributing Editor of the Microbiology Section of the Year Book of Pathology and Clinical Pathology and serves on many other editorial boards in Microbiology. She is the author of several monographs, and contributed numerous chapters and published nearly 100 original articles on subjects in Medical Microbiology.
